About me

Picture
I have a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of Oregon, where I am a Pro Tem Instructor. My research examines issues of migration and deportation, borders, race and ethnicity, gender, care, and criminalization. My current research project examines the vulnerabilities of deportation to northern Mexico for long-time U.S. residents and resources deportees draw on to reorient their lives.
I also collaborate with community advocates and activists, for example in co-editing a book (forthcoming, Georgetown University Press)
for non-specialists about migration, deportation, and asylum-seeking in the Arizona-Sonora borderlands region.
